Ari + Jeff: Inspiration Behind Dreamy + Vintage Inspired Engagement Photos
I get asked frequently how I find inspiration for my work. I feel so strongly that the beauty of life lies in the profound inspiration drawn from the experiences and stories of others. For a lot of my sessions, I take inspiration from great movies, music, and literature. I remember when Ari had reached out to schedule her session with me, I was so touched to hear the details of her and Jeff’s love story. She expressed to me that they both grew up in Grand Haven, Michigan, and that they’ve known eachother since middle school but didn’t begin dating until college. Instantly hearing this made me pull some ideas from a few places! I kept on returning to “Invisible String” by Taylor Swift, and the 2010 movie Flipped. I think love stems from so many different ways, but in Ari + Jeff’s case, their connection leading them to one another was so important to me.
Take Back The Night.
You heard me! The night is yours… you’re young, in love, and dressed to impress; celebrate wrapping up your engagement session by going out for a date after.
I always recommend my couples bring an extra set of clothes to a session and warm jackets just in case! This is especially handy when shooting near the water or anywhere that experiences big temperature drops (I’m looking at you palm springs).
In my professional opinion, happy feet mean happy people. I think it goes without saying my recommendation for an extra set of clothes would also extend to a pair of socks and shoes.
With all this in mind I was so happy to hear that Ari + Jeff went out to eat after our session together. It’s easy to get swept up into planning, but getting your engagement photos done is such a huge milestone in the wedding planning process, and I think it is something to be celebrated!
